Country with a touch of Reggae by Texan Willie Nelson. Including a guest appearance of Jamaican Reggae veteran Toots Hibbert on "I'm A Worried Man" written by June and Johnny Cash. Two tracks were written by Jimmy Cliff, among them the Reggae classic "The Harder They Come" with backing vocals from Hibbert's daughter Lieba Thomas. The rest is recorded in Jamaica in the mid 90's with mostly former Peter Tosh band members under the supervision of producer Don Was.

The Highwaymen were a Country music super-group composed of four of the biggest outlaw Country artists: Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson. The band was active as a group between 1985 and 1995. Having a few years ago written a memoir, my sensibilities toward narrative-especially trying to find a common thread in different pieces of writing-had become a part of my songwriting process". <br/><br/>"Close Ties" är ett album med djupa musikaliska rötter, inte minst för att Crowell själv har en historia som sträcker sig ända tillbaka till den alternativa country-scenen i det tidiga sjuttiotalet.
