Den tystlåtne och hårt arbetande familjemannen Nels är hjärtat i den lilla skidorten i Klippiga bergen där han bor. Hans uppgift är nämligen att ploga och hålla vägarna öppna mot omvärlden.<br/><br/>Hans lugna liv krossas dock när hans son mördas av en lokal drogkung.
