In 'Death Line' (1972) an underground tunnel collapses in London in 1892, and those trapped under its rubble survive only by eating each other's flesh. Subsequent generations live on via similar means, but eventually only one remains. Forced out of hiding, the disease-ridden cannibal begins to look for his nutrition on the platform of the Russell Square Tube line. In 'Countess Dracula' (1971) Ingrid Pitt stars as the notorious Hungarian Countess Elizabeth Bathory. Bathory discovers that bathing in the blood of virgins keeps her looking youthful and arranges for the kidnapping of her own daughter, Ilona (Lesley-Anne Down), in order to use her blood. She takes on Ilona's identity and seduces a young man but the supply of blood needs constant topping up otherwise Bathory will age vigorously. In 'The Medusa Touch' (1978) novelist John Morlar (Richard Burton) is haunted by the belief that he can, through the power of telekinesis, cause fatal disasters to occur. This obsession is reinforced when, after Morlar is assaulted, a moon mission crisis and jet crash occur in short order. The police turn to Morlar's mysterious therapist, Zonfeld (Lee Remick), to try to get to the bottom of the case. Finally, in 'Hands of the Ripper' (1971) Anna (Angharad Rees), as a child, witnesses the death of her mother at her evil father's hands and is unknowingly the daughter of Jack the Ripper. Some 15 years later the young woman has become terribly troubled by something and enters strange violent trances. Her case is assigned to psychiatrist Dr Pritchard (Eric Porter) who believes he can cure Anna, but as he uncovers her violent memories and her murderous behaviour is unleashed he starts to fear that the case is spiralling out of control.<br/><br/><i>Typ: DVD / Box Set</i>

As he grows up and becomes aware of his sexuality, Quentin (John Hurt) is determined never to hide who he is, despite the highly conservative and intolerant society he is living in. After becoming a prostitute and then an artist, he is rejected from serving in the military in WWII and instead takes up nude modelling at an art school. John Thaw stars in this adaptation of Michelle Magorian's novel. The outbreak of the Second World War sees nine-year-old Willie Beech (Nick Robinson) evacuated from London and billeted with crotchety widower Tom Oakley (Thaw) in the village of Little Weirwold. Willie is a sad little boy who has not had a happy or easy life, but he and Tom gradually warm to each other, and a strong friendship develops between the pair.<br/><br/>Tom is therefore saddened and upset when Willie's mother (Annabelle Apsion) unexpectedly summons him back to the capital at the height of the Blitz.

Returning home from university, Hamlet finds his mother, Gertrude (Claire Bloom) married to his despised uncle, Claudius (Patrick Stewart). When the ghost of his father, Polonius (Eric Porter), appears to Hamlet and reveals that it was Claudius who murdered him, the young prince vows revenge. However, a fatal flaw in his character - hesitation - mars his efforts, resulting in murder, madness and treachery. In 'King Lear' (1982) Michael Horden stars as the vain and blinkered old King who divides his kingdom amongst his three daughters. When Lear is tricked into making a devastating error, events spiral into madness and malice, bringing the realm to its knees. In 'Macbeth' (1983) Nicol Williamson stars as the guilt-ridden king, who rises to power by spilling the blood of his rivals. Jane Lapotaire plays Lady Macbeth, the woman who spurs her husband on to evermore murderous acts. 'Othello' (1981) sees Anthony Hopkins star as the jealous warrior who is convinced by Iago (Bob Hoskins) that his wife is having an affair. In 'The Elephants' Graveyard' (1976) unemployed man Bunny (Jon Morrison) pretends to his wife that he is a postman when in reality he spends his days walking the hills. One day he befriends another man, Jody (Billy Connolly), who is in a very similar position. Together the pair bond over their shared desire to avoid employment at all costs. 'Gotcha/Campion's Interview' (1977) features two stories that revolve around two different schools trying to deal with inequality within the education system. In 'The Spongers' (1978) single mother Pauline (Christine Hargreaves) is given two weeks to cover her rent arrears or face eviction. However, due to recent welfare payment cuts she struggles to find the money and worries about how she and her disabled daughter will survive. Meanwhile, preparations for the Queen's Silver Jubilee get underway. In 'Victims of Apartheid' (1978) George O'Brien (John Kani) has newly arrived in London from apartheid-era South Africa, however, his past experiences continue to haunt him and he struggles to move on with his life. Finally, in 'Just a Boys' Game' (1979), set in Glasgow, Jake McQuillen (Frankie Miller) aspires to become known as a hardman just like his revered grandfather (Hector Nicol), who is close to death.
